Can you have your own domain name?

You present a much more professional image if you have your own domain name. i.e. www.yourcompany.co.uk. Some hosting companies will not allow you to host a domain name and instead give you an address like www.theirname/yourname or www.yourname.theirname. Others will allow you to have a domain name but send all your visitors to www.theirname/yourname.

A jensys hosting solution includes dedicated web space so yes, you can have your own domain name and no, we don't redirect your visitors to a different one (unless you want us to). Not only that but we will give you the .co.uk domain name of your choice (subject to availability) for free, and pay all the registration fees while you use our hosting solution. If you want a dot-com or other domain type we can also register and host these for you and simply add a small amount to your annual hosting fee to cover registration and administration charges.

Can you have multiple domain names?

You might want to have more than one domain name and point them all to the same web site. For example, you might have one domain name for your company and others that include your products or services.

Can you have sub-domains?

Sub-domains allow you to have multiple web addresses which maintain your company identity and allow you to make your web site more intuitive. Take our site as an example, our home pages are at jensys.net, you are looking at hosting.jensys.net, our support pages are at support.jensys.net etc. Some companies not only charge you a high fee for setting up a sub-domain, they will make you buy extra web space as well.

Can they register domain names?

Some companies cannot register domain names on your behalf, or only deal with specific types i.e. .co.uk, which means you have to buy the one you want elsewhere and then possibly incur additional charges getting it transferred.

Who owns the domain name?

Some companies, especially those who offer 'free' domains will quite often put very strict conditions in their small print. Ask what happens if you want to move to another hosting company. Can you take your domain with you and is there a release fee?
