Do you get e-mail accounts? Most companies will give you one or more e-mail accounts with your web site. Check that they are the POP3 type with individual passwords and user names and that you can send and receive mail using your own domain name as some hosting companies require you to use your Internet Service Provider's mail facility. The standard jensys hosting solution includes 10 POP3 e-mail accounts. More are available if needed. You can both send and receive e-mail via your domain name. |
Can you have e-mail aliases? This is useful if, for example you have John, Pete Tracy and Doris all working in your sales office and sharing the same internet accessible pc. They can all send and receive personalised e-mail using theirname@yourcompany.co.uk via your sales@yourcompany.co.uk account. A jensys hosting solution includes e-mail aliasing. We usually set up one account as a 'catch-all' but you can have specific aliases sent to specific accounts if you so wish. |
Do they offer e-mail forwarding?E-mail forwarding is where messages to one or more of your e-mail accounts are sent to somewhere else. This is especially useful if you have multiple domains as you can have all your messages delivered to one account and collect them all at the same time. A jensys hosting solution includes e-mail forwarding. |
Can you send attachments with your e-mails?Most companies will limit the amount of space they set aside for your e-mails. If you send or receive large e-mail attachments or don't collect your mail on a regular basis this space can fill up and your mail may be rejected by the server. A standard jensys hosting package is set up to give 2MB of space to each e-mail account which forms part of your total web space allowance. We can alter this if required. If you are going to be sending or receiving large attachments on a frequent basis we can advise you on possible better alternatives. |
Do they offer autoresponders? An autoresponder is a program that automatically replies to a request (via e-mail or a link on your web site) with a standard response. These are very useful as they can save you a lot of time and trouble if you find you frequently send out messages with details of brochures, price lists, directions etc. If they do offer this feature, make sure you can also get a copy of the request so you can follow up on the enquiry and that you can change the content of the message without having to go back to them. A jensys hosting solution can include autoresponders. The incoming request can be sent to any e-mail account you specify and you can alter the content of the message using your web browser. If you would like to learn more we have included a that you can try out. |
